Vertical Jump Training: Vert Shock uses the stretch-shortening cycle (SSC) methodology which links active stretching of the muscle followed by the immediate shortening contraction of the same muscle.

Unlike some other training programs, this one focuses on the quality jumps versus the number of jumps. Users of this program take fewer jumps which in turn helps avoid injuries and overtraining.

This program is based around bodyweight with no weight training recommended. With that in mind, this reduces the potential of a post-training condition called delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMs). There are some reports that say DOMs reduce sporting performance.

The training is divided into three phases.

Pre-Shock

This is a 7 day period in which you can expect to increase your vertical jump by 4-5 inches. To begin with, you will perform a series of jumps and bounding exercises. This is in prep for the next phases.

Shock Phase

This is obviously the main phase of this program. It runs for six weeks and will condition your body to leap vertically higher than ever before through a more complex training routine.

Post-Shock Phase

This is a 7-day phase that pulls together all that you learned into your muscle memory. As a result of this phase, jumping higher than others will become routine for you and definitely improve your game.

This phase is also exceptional for beginners who want to dunk a basketball for the very first time.
