Who Am I

Ever contemplate who are you or in my case who am I. What am I all about? First and foremost, I attribute my parents for instilling in me to be a servant leader.  My parents had endured the challenges of WWII and immigrated to the United States. Imagine leaving behind all their possessions in Hungary and arriving in the United States with just one suitcase with all their worldly possessions inside.

Growing up in a farming community in Northern Ohio, we learned to be self-sufficient by raising poultry, sheep, and pigs, and tending to a large vegetable garden.  We rarely went to the local grocery store (10 miles away) for any staples.

My parents instilled in me that every male member of the family should serve this great nation.  So, to honor my parents, I joined the Air Force. To my surprise, I ended up serving for 30 years (the original plan of 6 years).  After that, I continue to work for the Air Force as a DOD civilian employee. At the end of 2023, my plan is to retire after 17+ years of service as a Department of Defense civilian employee.

Those almost 48 years of military and civilian Department of Defense service helped further shape who am I today. I learned the value of teamwork, overcoming obstacles, never giving up, and most of all, continuing to pursue your dreams; some, if not all, eventually become reality.

Who Am I-My Priorities

That brings me to the present.  When I retire in 2023, I felt that there are a couple of priorities that I need to consider.  First of all, I felt that I needed to have a worthwhile endeavor on a daily basis with flexibility.  Next, I wanted to ensure that my youngest daughter and granddaughter would be taken care of when the time comes for us to say goodbye.

As a result, I looked at a number of options. In that search, I recalled that my College Marketing Professor highly encouraged me to get into this field.  But as I mentioned above, my priority at that time was to serve our country in gratitude for accepting my parents as citizens!  However, today, I am following that advice from my professor.  It just took over 40 years to get here.
