Embarrassing Getting Into The Wrong Car

The other day I was listening to my favorite Christian radio when the topic came up on getting into the wrong car. People called in to talk about their experiences and I found them entertaining. It also had me wondering if this was something quite rare. I had not experienced it.

Radio Stories About Getting Into The Wrong Car

Expression of a young lady when she discovers she is getting into the wrong car

The two incidents that had me laughing were these. Lady gets into the car and asks if they are ready to roll. She hears a voice from the back seat, “When my wife shows up, I am ready.” Then the radio announcer shared her story. She gets what she thought was her car. And then she notices that this can’t be her car, it is too neat!

My Wife’s Experience Involving Getting Into The Wrong Car

My sister and niece came to visit us on their way to visit her daughter’s family in Idaho. For dinner, we realized that we needed to pick up some spices, steaks, and accouterments at the grocery store for dinner. My wife elected to sit in the back seat and wait for us to make the quick run into the store.

Lo and behold, a lady opened the passenger door and sat in ready to start the car. She was startled to see my wife in the rear-view mirror. They had a good laugh and the lady was very apologetic.  It amused me that I thought this would not happen in our lifetime. But just 2 days after hearing the stories on the Christian Radio had me chuckling!

Postings About Getting Into The Wrong Car

So I had to go online and see if this was a bit more common than I first thought. Sure enough, there are several incidents recorded of people getting into the wrong car.  You will find several stories on Reddit and just even on Google searches.

Dog sitting in the back seat of car driven by a man who got into the wrong car and discovered this was not his car and dog!

The one that caught my attention was a Montana man who got into a car and drove off. Shortly afterward, he realized he was in the wrong car when he spotted a dog in the back seat that was not his. He quickly turned around the car and returned the vehicle and the canine to the original owner. The reason why he was able to drive off with the car was the owner had left the key fob left in the car. So this had me thinking that I need to double-check each time I leave the car that I take the key fob with me.

Conclusions

One of the things I always tell myself is to Never say Never because it is about to happen. Even getting into the wrong car, or a stranger getting into your car can happen at the least unexpected times!
